Itinery - Mt Blanc

Tour of Mount Blanc Itinery

Although individual days on the tour of Mont Blanc Trek are not too hard, the days are long and the total trip requires a good level of walking fitness and stamina. Our accommodation will be a mixture of traditional mountain huts, hostels and hotels.

We will be on the TMB trail for around 8 hours every day, covering 1000-1200 meters of ascent. As expected we will not have support vehicles ferrying equipment up and down the valleys.

This is a mountain walker’s itinery and therefore a reasonably challenging proposition.

Day 1:
Arrive Chamonix valley at the hotel no later than 5pm. This evening you’ll meet with your guide for a welcome and trip briefing. Tonight you are free to enjoy many of the restaurants in Chamonix.

Day 2:
After breakfast and last minute briefing, we take a short minibus transfer over to Les Houches (993m). We take the cable car lift from Les Houches and climb to Col de Tricot (2120m). From here we descend below the breathtaking Dome du Gouter and Aiguille de Bionnasay to the Nant Borrant hut (1450m). Dinner Included

Day 3:
From Nant Borrant we start the ascend over three cols - Col du Bonhomme (2329m), Col de la Croix de Bonhomme (2479m) and Col des Fours (2665m) one of the high points of the tour. From here we descend to La Ville des Glaciers (1789m) followed by a short ascent to the Refuge des Mottets (1870m).  Dinner & Breakfast included.

Day 4:
We leave Refuge des Mottets and ascend to Col de la Seigne (2516m). We are now in Italy and begin the mainly descending journey along the beautiful Val Veny into Courmayeur (1226m). Here we will get views of the south side of ‘Monte Bianco’, and some of the most challenging mountaineering routes in the Alps. Breakfast and dinner is included.

Day 5:
From Courmayeur (1226m) we travel along Val Ferret. Here the backdrop is the might Grand Jorasses.  We climb to the Grand Col Ferret (2537m) enjoying the views of the Swiss Valis and descend to Ferret (1705m) in Switzerland. Breakfast & Dinner included.

Day 6:
From Ferret (1705m) we travel through mountain pastures along the idyllic Val Ferret to Champex (1477m) an old Swiss mountain village. This a fairly straight forward day with no real up hill or descent. Dinner & Breakfast included

Day 7:
Leaving Champex (1477m), we ascend to the Fenêtre d’Arpette (2665m) the highest point of the tour, which we cross and descend into Trient (1297m). Crossing this rocky col is alpine trekking at its best with the awe inspiring views. We stop at the Swiss village of Trient (1297m). Dinner & Breakfast included.

Day 8:
We leave Trient (1297m) and return into France via Col de Balme and descend via Le Tour to Argentière (1244m) in the Chamonix Valley. A quick minibus transfer brings us back to our hotel. Evening free to explore bars and restaurants in Chamonix
